Esther & Carol takes its name from the owners' mothers and it is a stylish new venue in the Lower East Side. It is a split level concept- a neighborhood restaurant upstairs and a neon club/recording studio in the basement. It's like business in the front, party in the back. The menu is an approachable list of things your average human wants on a menu - caesar salad, crab cake, burger, a pork chop. There is a nod to making "dishes for all dietary needs" including many vegetarian and gluten free options. The best dish is the super satisfying buttermilk fried chicken which comes in a generous portion accompanied by jalapeno aleppo syrup, bourbon watermelon salad, & mac and cheese.
