Bagels, I love you. I especially love you in New York, at a Jewish deli. Zucker's Bagels & Smoked Fish does it right, all the way, all the time. It’s no surprise that this place is so good because it comes from a bagel legacy. The owner Matt Pomerantz is a born & bred New Yorker and his father is the owner of Murray’s Bagels. Between them, they own two of the best bagel places in the city. Zucker's has two locations in Tribeca & Midtown and has all the charm of a vintage deli.
Zucker's serves hand-rolled, kettle-boiled bagels. They have about a dozen varieties of smoked & cured fish, shaved beautifully thin. The pastrami salmon is excellent. Their whitefish salad is the best I’ve ever stumbled across. They have a fantastic pastry list of cookies, cakes, and sweet breads from some of the best bakeries in Manhattan & Brooklyn. Currently they have a genius promotion going on where they have partnered with 10 of the best NYC chefs to offer specialty sandwiches every week.

He speaks with so much passion about what he does. There is a reason for everything they do. The bagels are hand rolled instead of machine rolled. The fish and meat are carefully sourced from the best purveyors in the area. Even the coffee is exceptional; he tried countless varieties until he found the perfect blend. This is exactly the type of commitment to excellence that leads to an exceptional product. This is why he will be in business for 100 years. Here’s what we had:
